Prosecutors alleged that Ablie Camara, Momodou Bah and Amadou Bah on or about the 18th day of July, 2018, at Bakoteh and diverse places in the Kanifing Municipality of the Republic of The Gambia, jointly broke and entered into the office of Bakoteh Upper and Senior Secondary School with intent to commit a felony to wit: stealing.

The accused persons were alleged to have stolen on the same day at the same place the following items:  a laptop marked Dell valued at D10, 000, being the property of the said school; a laptop marked Windows 7 valued at D8, 000, being the property of Lamin Jobe, and one mobile phone marked Samsung valued at D1000, being the property of one Elizabeth, all totaling D19, 000.

Prosecutors also alleged that they jointly conspired among themselves to commit a felony to wit stealing.

However, Ablie Camara and Momodou Bah pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Subsequently, they were granted bail in the sum of D19, 000 with a Gambian surety each, who should surrender his or her ID card to the registrar of the court and also swear to an affidavit of means. Ablie Camara, the first accused person, was required by the court to provide his birth certificate on the adjourned date.

Magistrate Leone of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court presided over the case, while Prosecutor 656 Jaiteh represented the Inspector General of Police.

Prosecutor Jaiteh is expected to parade his witnesses on Tuesday the 7th August, to give evidence. He however applied to the court to delete the name of the third accused, Amadou Bah, who absconded.
