Five Young Boys Arraigned On Multiple Offences

Salifu Njie, Demba Sowe, Omar Jallow, Musa Camara and Abubacarr Conteh were on the Thursday 29th August, paraded before Magistrate Sarr of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court and charged on three counts of conspiracy to commit a felony, house breaking and stealing.

Prosecutors alleged that on or about the 17th August, 2018, at Kololi, in the Kanifing Municipality of the Republic of The Gambia, they jointly conspired among themselves to commit a felony.

It was also alleged that on the same date and at the same place, they stole the following items: 3 laptops marked Toshiba valued at D17,000; 2 mobile phones marked Itel valued at D20,000 and Samsung valued D25,000; pocket belt valued at D20,000; fiscal amount of D35,000; DVD player value unknown; digital camera valued at D2000; 4 pairs of shoes valued at D2,300; 1 exercise book valued at D60; 1 monitoring set valued at D10,000 and some clothes, value unknown. The total value of the stolen items was D131, 360, being the properties of one Muhammed Susso.

They were alleged to have broken and entered the house of Muhammed Susso with intent to commit a felony to wit stealing.

They all pleaded guilty on all the counts, and were subsequently remanded in custody until the 5th September, 2018, for sentencing.
