Lions Club International Governor Visit Gambia

The Lions Club International District 403A Governor, Fodiḗ Amadou Diagana, Mauritanian national and two of his Cabinet members namely: District Regional Chairperson Yasser Ainabhani and Zone President Anna Niang on Wednesday ended a two-day visit to The Gambia.

They were received at the foot of the ferry from Senegal by the President of the Lions Club Banjul Kairo, Luc A. Verschelden, Mike Blell, member of the Lions Club Banjul Kairo and Leo YICS President Adama Dampha among other Banjul LEOs club members.

During their visit to Project Aid, The Gambia office at Manjai Kunda, the project manager, project Aid, The Gambia, Ebrima Jobarteh explained to the visiting Lions the activities his institution is doing in the country.

Jobarteh informed Lion Club District Governor, Fodiḗ and his team that his institution is implementing their programs within three communities in the country namely; Jahaly village in Central River Region South, Bunyadou and Njaba Kunda villages both in North Bank Region.

For his part, Lions Club Banjul Kairo President, Luc Verschelden explained to Governor Diagana and his team how his Banjul office came in contact with Project Aid, The Gambia.

Luc informed Lion Fodiḗ that it was “Goodwill Ambassador-At Large”, Mathias Ketteler a German national who approached Banjul Kairo office if we can offer help to Project Aid, The Gambia.

“We are now planning to organize fundraising in order to help Project Aid  The Gambia and as District Governor, his mandate is to visit each Lion Club one’s in a year during his tenure as District Governor,” Luc Vershelden posited.

Lions Club District Governor, Fodiḗ Amadou Diagana in his response, promised Project Aid, The Gambia that his club will do all it can to assist them with medical items. He expressed his profound thanks to all the members of the both Lions Club Banjul Kairo and Leos YIC for the warm welcomed they accorded to him and his team.

According to Lions Club Banjul Kairo officials, during District Governor’s visit he need to know the health of the club and its activities thus would give him the opportunity which area his office can offer help to them.

District Governor Diagana was in the evening guest to a dinner hosted by Lions Club Banjul Kairo. In an interview with this paper he gave full assurances of his commitment in supporting the Banjul Lions club in their endeavours.

District Governor Diagana continues his visit to other Lions Club in Nouakchott, Islamic Republic of Mauritania, Senegal, Mali, Guinea Bissau and Guinea Conakry respectively.
