The head of the Construction team at Manjai Bridge has said that Latri- Kunda/Manjai Bridge will be accessible to the Public in late August.
Matarr Jammeh of Foresight Engineering and Construction was speaking to our reporter at the construction site over the weekend.
The 9.50 Meter-wide Bridge located along Kotu Silo (Latri-Kunda / Manjai Road) is contracted to Foresight Engineering and Construction together with Smart Structure. This Project is under the purview of the Ministry of Works, Transport and Infrastructure.
When quizzed on the reason for the slow pace in executing the work amid recent outcry coming from those that use this route on daily basis, he acknowledged that this was due to lack of materials such as sand, cement and iron rods. He said that the above mentioned materials were scarce despite numerous attempts to secure them.
He noted that the problem has now been solved. “I can say that work on the bridge has now reached an advanced stage because we have already erected the structure. Now we are on the construction of the 30 centimetre foot path on both sides to ensure that both Motorists and pedestrians can use the Bridge”.
Jammeh also assured the general public that that work on first phase of the Bridge will finish soon and that before Tobaski this road will be open to the Public.”
