Organization of Islamic Cooperation Conference Is On Track

Last year the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) headed by Director General for Political Affairs Tariq Bakheet and met Gambian officials including former Vice President Fatoumata Tambajang, delivering a message of support from OIC Secretary-General Dr.Yousef Al-Othaimeen.

Since then the Gambia has been poised to carry out the necessary infrastructure and other logistics to host this huge international event, second only to the UN General Assembly meeting.

“We are on track” is the word from the OIC secretariat. The secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in The Gambia is targeting to acquire 395 limousines, 60 of which are expected to be bulletproof, in preparation for the 2019 summit.

The vehicles will be used to transport delegates who will visiting the country. A state-of-the art Conference facility is taking shape as the Chinese continue to work endlessly to finish on time. One of the mammoth infrastructures is the 4 way highway that is expected to span the coastal road through bertil Harding Highway and link up the Banjul 4 way.

Cumbersome…… but possible and what about the residences that will be chopped off as the extension starts soon?  A group of senior Turkish police officers have also paid a visit to the Gambia to help the nation  strengthen its security ahead of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit in 2019.

The visiting group of four police officers met Interior Minister Ebrima Mballow and the country’s top security officers. They will evaluate Gambia’s needs in security field ahead of OIC summit — slated for November 2019.
