Turkish Airlines Launch Demonstrates The Value Turkey Attaches To Its Relations With Gambia
The Turkish Ambassador to The Gambia has stated that the decision to launch Turkish Airlines in Banjul demonstrate the value and importance that Turkey attaches to its relationship with The Gambia.
Ambassador Yuceer was speaking during the launching of the new Turkish Airlines direct flights from Turkey to The Gambia recently held at the VIP Lounge at the Gambia International Airport premises.
In his launching statement, ambassador Ismail SefaYuceer who was at the foot of the new Airlines to receive the passengers said the direct flights of the Turkish Airlines from Turkey to Banjul will not only increase the two countries’ people to people interaction and business relationship but will also further connect The Gambia through the hub of Istanbul with the rest of the World.
“Today, we are very happy and excited that the direct flight from Istanbul to Banjul by Turkish Airlines has become a reality,” the Ambassador informed the gathering.
As you know ambassador Yuceer went on, the instruction and support of the Turkish President, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdogan was decisive in reaching this happy outcome.
He said President Erdogan’s approach to this issue has been a reflection of the general positive outlook of Turkey with respects to the cooperation with the African continent as a whole.
The Turkish Ambassador therefore extended his gratitude to H.E. President Erdoganof Turkey for the political support he gives to both the public and private sector representatives of Turkey in the African countries.
According to Ambassador Yuceer, the number of flights frequency to the destination of The Gambia has already hit 57 per week adding that the commencement of a twice weekly flight by the Turkish Airlines would further attract new partners to the market thus contribute to the development of the tourism sector extensively.
As a matter of fact, he added, the determination and efforts by the Turkish Airlines to launch flights from Istanbul to Banjul without giving much attention to the commercial concerns deserve every accolade.
Ambassador Yuceer thanked the chairman of the Board of Directors and the Director General of Turkish Airlines for their decision thus used the occasion to wish Turkish Airlines and their Gambian partners every success in their endeavors for joining them to launch the new Turkish Airlines flights in Banjul.
The Gambian ambassador to Turkey Kemeseng Jammeh for his part applauded the Gambian President, Adama Barrow whose leadership made this Turkish Airlines flights possible.
According to ambassador Jammeh the flights will boost trade, investment and tourism between the two countries adding that the launching of the new flights will cement the cordial relationship between Turkey and The Gambia.
Other speakers at the occasion were: Director General of the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) Abdoulie Jammeh, Turkish Airlines senior Vice President of Sales Kerem Sarap and Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service Ebrima Camara.
